Dee Dee Fasquel

Daycare owner since 2018. Built InstinctIQ from the inside — because the system she needed didn't exist.

Dee Dee’s path to InstinctIQ spans seven years in veterinary medicine, over a decade in corporate business, and five years as a daycare client before becoming an owner in 2018.

Stepping into ownership, she quickly recognized what many operators face — inconsistent systems, limited team education, and difficulty finding science-informed programs built from clinical, behavioral, and operational expertise.

Drawing from her unique background, Dee Dee saw not only what was missing, but what was possible.

She invested years into continuing education, team development, and building a culture centered around thoughtful, consistent care for dogs — creating systems that put the focus back where she believed it belonged: on the dogs themselves.

To help bring that vision to life, Dee Dee assembled a team that included veterinarians, credentialed trainers, behavior professionals, and experts from complementary fields outside traditional dog care. Together, those perspectives helped shape the foundation of InstinctIQ and its first learning framework, EssentialsIQ.

Those systems helped transform a struggling dog care operation into a nationally recognized facility and demonstrated what can happen when structure, education, and culture work together.

DVM, DACVB, CABC (IAABC)

Dr. Christopher Pachel

Behavioral Science & Welfare Advisor

Christopher Pachel, DVM, DACVB, CABC (IAABC), is the owner and lead clinician at the Animal Behavior Clinic in Portland, OR. He received his veterinary degree from the University of MN in 2002 and became board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists in 2010. He has operated house-call, office-based, and telemedicine-focused behavior practices. Dr. Pachel lectures worldwide, teaches courses at multiple veterinary schools, and has authored articles and book chapters on topics such as Intercat aggression, Behavioral Euthanasia, and Pet selection for animal-assisted therapy. He is a sought-after expert witness for legal animal behavior cases and serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for dvm360. He is a Vice President of Veterinary Behavior for Instinct Dog Behavior and Training — an organization delivering behavior and training services for dogs and their caregivers — and co-owner of Instinct Portland. Dr. Pachel serves as Behavioral Science & Welfare Advisor for InstinctIQ, contributing his expertise in animal behavior and welfare to the development and review of the EssentialsIQ curriculum — a framework designed for the broader pet care industry. He is also a co-founder of LIMA Beings, an online community of people who seek to apply the power of communication and learning principles to our interactions with others, shaping behavior in compassionate and effective ways.

Dr. Jill Franks

Medical Curriculum Lead

Dr. Franks graduated from Purdue University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. Her contribution to InstinctIQ is grounded in her wide range of experience in veterinary medicine and organizational leadership. She brings practical medical knowledge and skills from years of clinical practice into common sense protocols and tips for the operational realities that care teams face every day.

Her comprehensive knowledge, practical approach and compassionate care philosophy shape her contributions to EssentialsIQ providing advice on real situations, real protocols, and real decisions inside a working facility. Her curriculum work on medication administration and first aid response reflects not just veterinary knowledge, but a deep understanding of how that knowledge needs to be communicated and applied on the floor.

Dr. Dean Beyerinck

Veterinary Health Guidance & Infectious Disease Consulting

Dr. Dean Beyerinck received his undergraduate and DVM degrees from the University of California, Davis, graduating in 1995. He completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery before building a career spanning decades of clinical practice. He currently serves as Managing Veterinarian at Bush Animal Hospital in Eugene, Oregon.

Dr. Beyerinck's relationship with InstinctIQ is rooted in firsthand experience — he has served as the veterinary consultant for the facility that EssentialsIQ was built from, guiding the team through the 2023 national canine respiratory outbreak. That experience gave him a close, on-the-ground understanding of how care teams operate, make decisions, and respond under pressure.

He trains the facility team annually, remains an active client, and his contributions to EssentialsIQ are shaped by his continued involvement in the day-to-day realities of dog care.

Stacey Lambert

Education & Content Developer

Stacey Lambert came to dog care through a deeply personal path — rescuing and fostering dogs sparked a passion that led her, a University of Connecticut graduate, away from her original career path and into professional animal care. She joined the team just weeks after new ownership, making her one of InstinctIQ’s earliest and most foundational contributors.

She earned her KPA-CTP certification through Karen Pryor Academy in 2020 — a highly respected credential in positive reinforcement training — and is also Fear Free Certified. Guided by positive reinforcement and force-free principles, Stacey has helped shape EssentialsIQ’s approach to group management, canine behavior, and hands-on team education.

With more than 10,000 hours of direct, supervised playgroup leadership experience, Stacey developed EssentialsIQ’s behavioral and playgroup management content in consultation with Dr. Christopher Pachel — helping translate clinical and behavioral expertise into practical, facility-ready education built for real-world care environments.

Her background spans playgroup management, lodging oversight, training, team leadership, and curriculum development. She remains actively involved in hands-on care, keeping her perspective grounded in day-to-day application and the evolving needs of both dogs and teams.

That connection to the work keeps EssentialsIQ grounded in what matters most: the dogs.

Jill Hunter

Director of Learning Systems & Content

Jill entered the pet care industry in 2020 and built her career from the ground up — starting in veterinary care, moving into professional dog daycare, and earning her KPA-CTP certification through Karen Pryor Academy in November 2025. She is also Fear Free Certified. Her foundation in positive reinforcement and force-free principles shapes everything she brings to the EssentialsIQ framework.

A University of Oregon graduate, Jill combines a sharp analytical mind with deep operational knowledge — the kind of person who makes complex systems work cleanly and consistently. At InstinctIQ, she serves as Director of Learning Systems & Content, responsible for ensuring the platform is organized, accurate, and executed with precision.

Her work bridges behavioral philosophy with the day-to-day operational systems needed to make it stick — helping ensure that what is outlined within the framework is carried through consistently on the floor.

Kari Campbell

Industry Insight & Content Review

Kari Campbell is a Certified Professional Animal Care Operator, speaker, and pet business expert with over twenty-five years of experience in the pet care industry. For eighteen years, she was the founder and operator of Dog Tired K9 Activity Center in Anchorage, Alaska, where she built a reputation for exceptional care grounded in positive reinforcement, force-free principles, and a deep respect for dog welfare. She has logged over 34,000 hours observing canine body language and managing off-leash playgroups.

Kari's approach centers on education, compassion, and clear communication. She believes high-quality care starts with informed, trust-based relationships between dogs, their families, and the professionals who serve them. Her six years developing curriculum and coaching professionals nationwide reflect her commitment to advancing standards across the industry.

Kari serves as an Industry Insight & Content Review Contributor for InstinctIQ, bringing firsthand operator experience to help ensure the curriculum is practical, relevant, and aligned with real-world application. She is a dedicated advocate for the broader pet care community, having served six years on the Professional Animal Care Certification Council Board of Directors and as a co-founder of The Normandy Project, a nonprofit pet food bank in Alaska. Over the past three decades, she has contributed to numerous nonprofit boards, supporting responsible, compassionate animal care at every level. Kari currently owns a full-service pet resort in Boulder, Colorado.
